How we work

Need an employee-only, authenticated intranet?

Treat authentication and employee access control as a separate requirement. This page describes Satori's publishing model for turning selected Confluence pages into a separate employee-facing site.

The employee experience problem

Employees shouldn't need to understand your Confluence architecture.

Confluence may contain hundreds or thousands of pages because different teams need somewhere to create, review and collaborate on knowledge.

Most employees have a much simpler job: find the annual-leave policy, understand expenses, set up a laptop or work out what they need during their first week.

The employee-facing layer can therefore be much smaller than the collaboration environment behind it.

One knowledge workflow

Keep the place people create knowledge. Simplify the place people consume it.

Keep content owners in Confluence

HR, IT, Operations and other teams continue maintaining the pages they already own.

Curate the employee subset

Choose official policies, onboarding guides and workplace information employees actually need.

Give employees a clearer front door

Present the selected information through a focused site instead of the wider internal workspace.

What belongs on it?

Start with the information people ask for again and again.

You don't need to turn every Confluence space into an intranet. Start with official, frequently used employee information.

Employee handbook

Ways of working, conduct, expenses, workplace expectations and practical employee information.

Policies and leave

Annual leave, sickness, parental leave and other official workplace policies.

New starter onboarding

Give employees a clear route through their first day, week and month.

IT and tools

Laptop setup, application access, security guidance and common technical help.

Teams and ways of working

Explain who does what, how teams fit together and how work moves through the organisation.

Important company information

Surface useful company information and durable updates employees may need to return to.

Curate, don't mirror

The intranet does not need to contain all of Confluence.

Your collaboration environment may reflect teams, projects, working groups and years of accumulated knowledge.

The employee-facing site can expose a much smaller set of official routes.

How the organisation works

Keep each tool doing its job

An intranet doesn't need to become another place employees have to work.

Use the employee site as a front door to useful knowledge, while your existing systems continue handling collaboration and transactions.

Confluence

Create and collaborate

Teams write, review and maintain the knowledge they own.

Satori Cloud

Curate and publish

Turn selected employee-facing pages into a focused site.

HR, IT and collaboration tools

Communicate and transact

Keep leave booking, support tickets, chat and specialist workflows in the systems built for them.

How Satori works

Build the employee site from the Confluence pages you already maintain.

01

Connect Confluence

Connect the workspace containing the employee knowledge your teams already maintain.

02

Choose employee pages

Select the official policies, onboarding and workplace guidance that belong on the site.

03

Sync and preview

Pull the latest source content into a draft and review it before changing the live site.

04

Publish

Explicitly publish the employee-facing version when the draft is ready.

Start smaller

You don't need to launch a giant intranet programme.

Start with one employee journey where people repeatedly struggle to find authoritative information.

Employee handbook

Centralise the official policies people regularly need.

New starter hub

Give new employees one route through their first weeks.

HR knowledge

Leave, expenses, benefits and common workplace questions.

IT help

Setup instructions, tool access and recurring support guidance.

FAQ

Publishing an intranet from Confluence

Can I build an intranet from Confluence?

You can use Confluence as the maintained source for employee knowledge and publish selected pages through Satori as a separate employee-facing site.

Is a Satori employee site private?

Employee-only authentication and restricted access are separate requirements from the publishing model described on this page. If your intranet must only be available to authenticated employees, that access-control requirement needs to be addressed separately.

Does Satori replace Confluence?

No. Confluence remains the source where content owners create and maintain knowledge. Satori handles the selected published presentation.

Do I need to publish the whole Confluence space?

No. You choose the pages that belong on the employee site. A useful employee experience is often much smaller than the full Confluence workspace.

What content should I start with?

Good starting points include employee policies, handbook information, onboarding, HR guidance, IT setup and other frequently used company information.

Does Satori replace our HR system or IT service desk?

No. Use those systems for transactions and specialist workflows. The employee site is better thought of as a curated route into useful knowledge.

What happens when an employee policy changes in Confluence?

Sync the latest source into the Satori draft, preview the updated page and explicitly publish when you're ready for the live version to change.

Your employee knowledge is already in Confluence. Give the useful part a clearer front door.

Connect Confluence, select the policies and guidance you want on the employee site and publish them without creating another copy to maintain.
